Don’t kid yourself. There really are two choices in life.
Fearing man or fearing God? (Isaiah)
Going the broad way or the narrow way? (Jesus)
Living for the City of Man or the City of God? (Augustine)
And then this from Boston College professor, Peter Kreeft:
“Since we are east of Eden, our only options are the illusion of a fool’s paradise (modern hedonism and yuppiedom) or the realism of spiritual combat.”
LOVE IT! Simply enough, huh?
It ain’t complicated! It is hard, though! Faith is not opposed to effort…but to earning..(Dallas Willard)
Warren: My thinking is that acknowledging the choices is a first step–and a pretty straight forward one at that. Knowing Scripture, really knowing it makes that (well-chosen) path, the only path that makes sense. As a believer in Christ, God tells me this truth; and as a non-Christian, I knew there had to be a better way, I just didn’t know it. Being ‘in the Light’ is a marvelous thing!
