{"id":9157,"date":"2021-07-08T15:25:30","date_gmt":"2021-07-08T20:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?p=9157"},"modified":"2021-07-08T15:33:12","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T20:33:12","slug":"am-i-woke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?p=9157","title":{"rendered":"AM I WOKE?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Danny Akin is the president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Danny and I are bound together (literally) because his commentary on Song of Solomon and mine on Ecclesiastes were matched together in B &amp; H\u2019s series of commentaries on the whole Bible.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Danny believes the shocking truth that the gospel of Jesus speaks to <em>all of life<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some within the Southern Baptist \u201cdenomination\u201d (see my post on June 15, 2021) dubbed Danny a \u201cwoke liberal.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If shrewdly &#8220;plundering the Egyptians&#8221; and seeking to have an irenic spirit makes one a liberal, then I guess many of us must wear that moniker. \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And by the way, before you are tempted to sling out the word &#8220;woke&#8221; ask yourself whether you have done the hard work of lots of biblical and theological study along with ample historical work.
