{"id":6921,"date":"2017-04-28T00:06:11","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T05:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?p=6921"},"modified":"2017-04-26T21:23:41","modified_gmt":"2017-04-27T02:23:41","slug":"i-have-a-question","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?p=6921","title":{"rendered":"WHERE ARE THE OLDER FOLKS?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Picture of yours truly with a compelling older Christian, Dr. Dave McCoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?attachment_id=4100\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4100\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4100\" src=\"http:\/\/www.twocities.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/IMAG0104-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.twocities.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/IMAG0104-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.twocities.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/IMAG0104-1-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.twocities.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/IMAG0104-1-624x351.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve been thinking more about aging and the aged these past few years.\u00a0 Sure, part (much?) of it is due to being 59.\u00a0 Hard to believe.\u00a0 Turning forty was somewhat surreal, but sixty?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In any case, it is clearer to me that ever than older people are not typically the lifeblood of churches as they should be.\u00a0 Some is due to them.\u00a0 Did they prepare themselves spiritually as younger folks?\u00a0 I&#8217;m sad to say many did not.\u00a0 Lackluster Christians in their twenties and thirties make terribly unimpressive Christians later in life.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Of course, God is gracious and I know examples of those who made course corrections later in life.\u00a0 I also know those who were intentional about their walk with the Lord in earlier life, so it is not surprising they remain so.\u00a0 I am grateful for the men and women I know like this.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This aging stuff has me noticing new things.\u00a0 For example, I check out several blogs and Twitter accounts on a daily basis.\u00a0 One thing that has struck me of late is how so few older people are featured.\u00a0 Sure, there are older people if they are well-known Christian leaders, but that is about it.\u00a0 Where are the older folks?\u00a0 Most feature just the younger folks.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Picture of yours truly with a compelling older Christian, Dr. Dave McCoy.
