{"id":6387,"date":"2016-08-18T16:41:56","date_gmt":"2016-08-18T21:41:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?p=6387"},"modified":"2016-08-18T16:47:42","modified_gmt":"2016-08-18T21:47:42","slug":"founding-fathers-and-dodo-birds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.twocities.org\/?p=6387","title":{"rendered":"FOUNDING FATHERS GO BYE BYE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We love to invoke the Founding Fathers.\u00a0 It makes us feel good about our American heritage.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We admire and say we agree with what they tried to teach us about character.\u00a0 They believed character among our elected officials was critical to governing well.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Curiously, it seems many Christians have fallen off the planet with respect to this kind of thinking.\u00a0 We either are ignorant of what the Founding Fathers said about character, or worse still, we kind of know, but think it is no longer practical to expect it.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen many excuses among Christian leaders invoking,<\/strong> <strong>&#8220;We all are sinners&#8221; which of course is undeniably true, but using it as an excuse for expecting much of anything in our elected officials.
