Among other things, it seems all of us long for two things.\u00a0\u00a0First, we want our own individual lives to matter, and second, we want to be part of something bigger than ourselves.\u00a0\u00a0The first, I will call \u201cunique impact\u201d and the second, \u201ccommunity.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Think about work as one example.\u00a0\u00a0At work, we don\u2019t want to be the proverbial cog in the wheel.\u00a0\u00a0Rather, we want our individual contribution to be seen as unique, and therefore integral to the success of the company.\u00a0Appreciating individual abilities is why so many companies recognize employees with awards.\u00a0\u00a0We all love to be valued for what we uniquely bring to the table.\u00a0\u00a0It seems we are designed for \u201cunique impact.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the other side of things, we desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves.\u00a0\u00a0We long to be part of a group of people who truly love and care for one another.\u00a0\u00a0That is community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If we are hard-wired for \u201cunique impact\u201d and \u201ccommunity,\u201d where might these come from?\u00a0\u00a0Understanding the Christian view of God provides a clue.\u00a0Christians believe in one God, yet three Persons, all of whom are fully God.\u00a0It is not a pie where each Person of the trinity is 33.333% God.\u00a0\u00a0Neither is the trinity a belief in three gods.\u00a0\u00a0There is a deep mystery with the trinity to be sure, but think about this.\u00a0\u00a0The Bible says each Person in the trinity has unique roles and functions, yet all three Persons of the trinity are in complete harmony with one another.\u00a0\u00a0If you are created in the \u201cimage of the triune God\u201d as the Bible states, doesn\u2019t it make sense that this is where your desire for \u201cunique impact\u201d and \u201ccommunity\u201d would arise?\u00a0\u00a0Search out other religions and philosophies.\u00a0\u00a0You will find the trinity is unique.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
